Randomized Controlled Trial Of Premature Ovarian Insufficiency With Acupoint Catgut Embedding

Objective:Contrasting the clinical effect of acupoint catgut embedding on hormone replacement therapy in the treatment of POI,the study aimed to provide research basis for the selection a advantage scheme for POI.Method:74 patients with POI were randomly divided into therapy group and control group,37 patients in each group.Therapy group was treated by acupoint catgut embedding:the treatment for once per 15 days,twice a month for 3 months,control group was treated by HRT:estrogen and progesterone sequential therapy for 3 months.The modified Kupperman index,menstrual situation score and sex hormones were determined and assessed in the beginning,after treatment,and at the end of the third month after treatment.At last,the intra-and inter-group controls were used to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the two groups.Results:1.A total of 74 patients were enrolled in this study.During the period,70 cases were actually completed and 4 were lost.2.There was no difference between the two groups before treatment in the general condition of the patients,the modified Kupperman index,menstrual situation score and sex hormone levels（P>0.05）.Baseline equilibrium.3.Intra group comparison:（1）Comparison after treatment:the total score of the modified Kupperman index,hot flashes,paresthesia,insomnia,repeated infection of the urinary tract,menstrual situation and sex hormone levels were all improved in the two groups（P<0.05）.（2）Comparison during the follow-up period:therapy group had no differences in hot flashes,paresthesia,difficulty in sexual life,repeated infection of the urinary tract,and menstrual cycle,color,quality（P>0.05）.Control group revealed significant difference in the total score of the modified Kupperman index,the main symptoms except difficulty in sexual life in the modified Kupperman index,menstrual situation and sex hormone levels（P<0.05）.4.Inter group comparion:（1）After treatment:there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in improving the total score of the modified Kupperman index and insomnia（P<0.05）.The effective rate,the main symptoms except insomnia in the modified Kupperman index,menstrual situation and sex hormone levels were almost the same in two groups（P>0.05）.（2）At the follow-up,therapy group was better than control group in terms of total score of the modified Kupperman index,hot flashes,insomnia,menstrual period,quality and E₂（P<0.05）.While,therapy group was equal to control group in paresthesia,difficulty in sexual life,repeated infection of the urinary tract,menstrual cycle,volume,color and FSH（P>0.05）.Conclusion:1.Acupoint catgut embedding and HRT are effective for POI and the short-term effect is similar.2.Acupoint catgut embedding has a good sustained effect in improving hot flashing,paresthesia,difficulty in sexual life and repeated infection of the urinary tract in POI patients.It is superior to HRT in improving long-term effect of hot flashes.3.Acupoint catgut embedding has a good sustained effect in improving menstrual cycle,color and quality in POI patients,and the long-term effect is better than HRT in improving menstrual color.4.Acupoint catgut embedding can improve POI patient’s sex hormone level with better sustained effect,and the long-term effect of improving E₂ is better than HRT.
