Objective Our aim is to analyze the occurrence of gastroparesis after abdominal surgery and discuss the clinical value of electrogastrogram predicting postoperative gastroparesis among those patients. Methods 75 patients who underwent abdominal surgery were included in our study and were divided in two groups based on the occurrence of gastroparesis. We compared the difference about the clinical data involving preoperative laboratory tests results and operation related methods between the gastropaesis group and the control group. Also each patient’s EGG before and 72 h,96h,120 h after the surgery together with the Upper Abdomen Clinical Symptom Scores was analyzed. Results Among all the included patients 11 patients developed postoperative gastroparesis. There were no significant differences about the preoperative laboratory tests results except for the hemoglobin.(gastropatrsis:90.9±29.2 g/L VS.control:116.9±25.5 g/L,P<0.05).Lymph nodes dissection, gastrectomy or pancreatectomy and Billroth II reconstruction may give rise to the occurrence of postoperative gastroparesis. The amplitude of electrogastrogram in each point of times of patients with postoperative gastroparesis was lower than that of the control group. This abnormality was ahead of the decline in the Upper Abdomen Clinical Symptom Scores, prompting that the amplitude of electrogastrogram may turn out to be the vital prediction parameter of postoperative gastroparesis Conclusions Preoperative anemia, gastrectomy or pancreatectomy, lymph nodes dissection,Billroth Ⅱ construction may lead to postoperative gastroparesis. The amplitude of electrogastrogram may predict the occurrence of gastroparesis, but need further verification. |
