ObjectiveBladder cancer is really a threat to human health, because it’s incidence is increasing day by day.Although the postoperative risk of recurrence is very high, the transurethral resection of the bladder tumor is still a standard treatment for patients with non-muscular invasive bladder cancer.Preoperative neutrophil lymphocyte ratio(NLR)has been proven to be related to the prognosis of various cancer, the goal of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of preoperative NLR in patients with NMIBC.Material and methodsClinical data of 116 patients with NMIBC who underwent TURBT were collected and retrospectively analyzed, and they were hospitalized patients in Qilu Hospital of Shandong University from January 2016 to September 2018.The patients were divided into two groups,NLR<2.17(77 cases)and NLR≥2.17(39 cases),according to the best cutoff value of NLR(2.17),which determined by the ROC curve. The relationship between NLR and the prognosis of patients with NMIBC was analyzed by COX proportional hazard model and Kaplan-Meier method.Results1.There were significant differences in the number of tumors, maximum tumor diameter and secondary resection between the two groups(P=0.003,P=0.024,P<0.001 respectively).2.The P value of NLR were 0.036(<0.05)and 0.013(<0.05)in the results of univariate and multivariate analysis of patients’ overall survival. The P value of NLR were both<0.001 in the results of univariate and multivariate analysis of patients’ recurrence free survival.3.According to the Kaplan-Meier survival curve, the overall survival(P=0.027)and recurrence free survival(P<0.001)of the patients in the low NLR group were significantly higher than those in the high NLR group.Conclusions1.NLR is a independent factor affecting the overall survival and recurrence free survival of patients with NMIBC who underwent TURBT.2.The prognosis of patients with high NLR(≥2,17)was worse than those with low NLR(<2.17).
