Objective To explore the expression of integrin ?5 in epithelial ovarian cancer and perform an analysis of the clinicopathology relationship between integrin ?5 proteins and epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods Ovarian tumor tissue were collected from 80 hospitalized patients under the care of the Gynecology Center of the Qingdao Municipal Hospital(40 epithelial ovarian cancer samples,20 borderline epithelial tumor samples and 20 benign epithelial tumor samples). The expression of integrin ?5 proteins in these ovarian tumor tissue was examined using immunohistochemistry methods;real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the relative expression of integrin ?5 mRNA in ovarian tumor tissue of each group. Results 1.1 The positive staining of integrin ?5 protein was mainly expressed on the cell membrane, the positivity of integrin ?5 in epithelial ovarian cancer samples was 80.00%(32/40),which was significantly higher than that in borderline epithelial tumor samples [40.00%(8/20)] and benign epithelial tumor samples [20.00%(4/20)](P<0.01).1.2 Comparison of positivity rates for integrin ?5 proteins in epithelial ovarian cancer tissue from patients of different age groups and pathology show no statistical significance(P>0.05).There was a significant difference among different degree of pathological differentiation and different stages of operation and pathology(P < 0.05);and the difference was also statistically significant in the presence or absence of lymph node metastasis(P < 0.01).1.3 Spearman grade correlation analysis showed that the expression of integrin ?5 in epithelial ovarian cancer was positively correlated with the surgical-pathological staging(r = 0.854,P < 0.05),the degree of pathological differentiation(r = 0.765,P < 0.05)and the presence or absence of lymph node metastasis(r = 0.895,P < 0.01).2 The results of real-time quantitative PCR showed that the relative expression of integrin ?5 m RNA in epithelial ovarian cancer tissue(19.91±6.79)was higher than that in borderline epithelial tumor group(1.51±0.22)and benign epithelial tumor group(0.19±0.06),the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion 1.The expression of ITGA5 in ovarian cancer tissue is significantly higher than that of borderline tumors and benign tumors.ITGA5 may be related to the occurrence and development of ovarian cancer.2.ITGA5 is closely related to the degree of ovarian cancer pathological differentiation, surgical pathological staging, and lymph node metastasis.ITGA5 is expected to become a new indicator for early diagnosis and prognostic evaluation of ovarian cancer.
