Clinical Significance Of EIF4A Expression And Its Correlation With Prognosis In Epithelial Ovarian Carcinoma

Objective:To detect the expression of e IF4 A in different epithecial noplasisa tissue and its relationship with cliniclpathological characteristics and prognosis.Method:We employed the expression of e IF4 A by quantitative real-time PCR and western-blot analysis in epithelial ovarian carcinoma tissue(EOC,n=42),borderline epithelial neoplasia tissue(n=15),benign epithelial neoplasia tissue(n=15) and normal ovarian tissue(n=20) respectively.The expression of e IF4 A protein in EOC paraffin-embedded tissue(n=123)was examined by immunohistochemistry.Result:The expression of e IF4 A m RNA and protein was significantly increased in EOC than those in the patients with borderline epithelial neoplasia tissue,benign epithelial neoplasia tissue and normal ovarian tissue(P<0.05). It was significantly higher in borderline epithelial neoplasia tissue than that in benign epithelial neoplasia tissue and normal ovarian tissue(P<0.05).It had on significant statistical difference in benign epithelial neoplasia tissue and normal ovarian tissue(P>0.05).In EOC, the expression of e IF4 A was significantly concerned to the FTGO stage(c2 =7.180,P<0.05),histological grade(c2=6.158,P<0.05),lymphatic metastasis(c2 =5.559,P<0.05) and ascites(c2=11.445,P<0.05).However,it had no relationship with histopathological grade(P>0.05) and age(P>0.05).The response rate to chemotherapy in group of high e IF4 A protein expression is lower than that in group of low expression(c2=6.198,P =0.013).Kaplan-Meier survival curves indicated that patients with high e IF4 A expression had a significantly poor overall survival rates(OS) and prognosis than those with low e IF4 A expression(Log-Rank test,P<0.05). In multivariate COX demonstrated that clinical stage(P=0.036),histological grade(P=0.048) and the postoperative residual lesions(P=0.001)were the independent prognostic factors for EOC.Conclusion:The e IF4 A plays a certain role in the oncogenesis and malignant progression of EOC.The EOC patents with high e IF4 A expression might have poor prognosis.
