| Objective: To investigate the effect of duration of type 2 diabetes on dry eye. Methods: A total of 101 patients(202 eyes)diagnosed with type 2 diabetes among endocrinology inpatients in The first People’s Hospital of Changzhou from March 2019 to September 2019 were collected, including 51 patients(102 eyes)with diabetes duration ≤ 5years(group B),50 patients(100 eyes)with diabetes duration > 5 years(group C),and another 49 healthy subjects without diabetes(group A).Tear break-up time(BUT),tear secretion test(Sit),corneal fluorescein staining(FL)score,OSDI score, and lower meibomian gland loss rate were compared between diabetic patients with different disease duration. Results: There was no significant difference in FL score among the three groups of ABC(P > 0.05).There were significant differences in BUT and Sit between groups A and B and group C(P < 0.05).There were significant differences in OSDI score and lower meibomian gland absence between groups A,B and C(P < 0.05).OSDI score,BUT,SIt,lower meibomian gland loss rate both had a significant correlation with diabetes duration(P < 0.01);The P value of OSDI score,BUT,SIt,lower meibomian gland loss rate in the3-7 years group decreased significantly compared to other disease duration groups, while the R value increased significantly. Conclusions: The duration of type 2 diabetes is significantly correlated with dry eye,and the longer the duration, the more severe the dry eye.At the same time,3–7 years may be an accelerated phase of disease change. |
