With the release of “Healthy China 2030”,“Health for All” has been a national strategy,and “Health Promotion in Sustainable Development in 2030” clearly states that health literacy is an indispensable factor in health.In recent years,with the development of education reform and the enrollment expansion in Colleges and Universities most of the students admitted tovocational schools are poor in both academic performance and behavioral habits.After graduation,students are more likely to work in grassroots health units and close contact with the masses.Their health literacy level has a profound impact on their work and life.Due to the nature of these students,studying their health literacy level is critical to the health maintenance of the population,as well as others around them.Based on the research of health literacy research objects and research contents,this study combines the characteristics of medical students in secondary vocational schools,adopts questionnaires and interviews.The objectives in present study are to understand the health literacy status of medical students in a secondary vocational school in Shanxi Province,analyze their health literacy and indentify the related factors Besides,this study focus on exploring a noble health education models and evaluating intervention effects of different health education models This study mainly consists of two parts.Part I : Investigation on the status of health literacy of medical students in secondary vocational schools and analysis of influencing factorsFrom November to December 2016,a cluster sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey on 1568 medical students from a secondary vocational school in Shanxi Province.Demographic characteristics were collected by a self-designed questionnaire and data of health literacy were obtained by The Health Literacy Monitoring Questionnaire(2015 Edition).The results showed that the total health literacy level of medical students in secondary health school was 6.87%,and the literacy level of three dimensions and six types of health problems were 18.01%,5.77%,18.49%,20.48%,9.35%,10.24%,47.84%,13.95%,19.66% respectively,the status of health literacy of medical students in secondary health schools was poor and needed improvement.Health education and health promotion should be carried out for medical students with different characteristics in vocational schools.Logistic regression analysis showed that the professional,grade,only child,family location,smoking,time of playing games,weekly exercise times,annual physical examinations and family income and were associated with health literacy in secondary health schools.This suggests that education plays an important role in improving health literacy,and health-related behaviors have a profound impact on improving health literacy.Part II: Evaluation of the effect of health education interventionA total of 173 students from the second-grade nursing majors of a secondary vocational school in Shanxi were randomly selected for the study.The control group used routine health education methods(distribution data,self-learning),whlie the experimental group adopted Participatory Health Education Method(3-PR).The interventionconducted from October 9,2017 to December 10,2017.Before and after the intervention,the participants wereinvesitaged twice by using the National Residents' Health Literacy Monitoring Questionnaire(2015 Edition).The results showed that the in control group,overall health literacy scores and levels,the three aspects literacy scores and levels,the six types of problem literacy scores and levels were not significantly improved.But in the experiment group,overall health literacy scores and levels,three aspects literacy scores and levels,the six types of problem literacy scores and levels improved significantly.Therefore,health education intervention can improve health literacy,and the 3-PR participatory health education model is more effective than the regular health education model in improving health literacy.The innovations of this paper are as follows: First,it was the first time that the medical students of Shanxi Provincial Vocational School were taken as the research object for the first time.The health literacy status of the population is investigated and the influencing factors of their health literacy level were analyzed.These findings may help solve the issuses of health literacy among the study population.Secondly,a novel 3-PR participatory health education model was developed and was verified that the model is more effective than the regular health education model in improving health literacy.This may provides a reference for the further exploration of health education methods.Thirdly,With follow-up and pairing research,results in this research had strong reliability and validity.
