Caring Community:The Inevitable Direction Of Community Rehabilitation For Psychiatric Patients

The development trend about healing mentally ill is to reduce treatment in hospital and develop community health services.On the other hand,there are lots of psychiatric patients detained in hospitals and its reason is complicated.Psychiatric patients will be confronted with diversified problems and demands after returning to community life,including: 1.care needs related to the illness;2.care needs related to behavioral problems;3.ability-related care needs.The family plays an important role in the patient’s rehabilitation,but the traditional family is affected in part by the post-modernization.From the perspective of sociology,the author researches the construction of care community for psychiatric patients’ group to promote their rehabilitation and social integration.This article takes the mental patients and families of the YK rehabilitation station in Nanjing as the research object.Through interviews with 20 mental patients and their families at six YK rehabilitation stations,the overall lack of care to families of mental patients caused by the individualized influence was obtained.By analyzing the interview content,the author makes a summary from the loss of original family’ consideration functions,the disappearing favor and support network,the inconsistent asylum recovers,the segment of care environment and the neglected family welfare policy.In the course of the investigation,the author draws on relevant experience at home and abroad.Under the guidance of community care,the intervention of the case work and the group work is carried out to construct a home community for the mentally ill family,so as to alleviate the pressure of weak family functions,weak support networks and the main responsibility of saving the family in care.Through concrete practice,the construction of the care community has effectively improved the patient’s rehabilitation skills.It strengthens the family awareness of family members.It expanded the social support network.It helped promote the rehabilitation and social integration of patients.The author hopes that this research can help the academic community to deepen the research on family problems in the community rehabilitation of mental patients,but there are also some shortcomings and problems that need further improvement.
