| Objects:The morphology of the left and right temporomandibular joint bony structures in patients with unilateral posterior teeth free loss was quantitatively measured and analyzed by imaging methods, and the effects of unilateral posterior teeth free loss on the morphology of the articular eminence and fossa and the position of condyle along with joint space were explored.Methods:30 subjects were enrolled in our study from the stomatology department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Affiliared Sixth People’s Hospital.CBCT was used for scanning the TMJ areas. Then all images were imported into the Mimics 17.0 software,so that the morphology of articular eminence and fossa and the position of condyle along with joint space could be assessed.SPSS18.0software was used to analyze the data statistically.Results:1.In patients with unilateral posterior teeth loss, the slope and height of the articular eminence on the missing side were lower than those on the other side, but the trend was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).2.The thickness of the roof of the glenoid fossa on the missing side of unilateral posterior teeth were greater than those on the other side, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).3.The posterior joint space of the missing side of unilateral posterior teeth was 1.89±0.60,which was less than that of the other side(2.12± 0.55).The difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).In addition, the value of superior joint space was smaller than that of the other side, and the value of anterior joint space was larger than that of the other side, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).There was no difference in condyle position between the TMJs.Conclusions:There was no significant difference in the shape of articular eminence and glenoid fossa as well as the position of condyle between the two sides of TMJ in patients with unilateral posterior teeth free loss, but it had some influence on the size of joint space. |
