China’s Economic Policy Impact on the United States,co-authored by the U.S.Congressional Budget Office,the United States Government Accountability Office and the Congressional Research Service in 2010,is an economic report.In this translation practice,the translator takes the first chapter China’s Growing Demand for Oil and It’s Impact on U.S.Petroleum Markets as the source text.Chapter one mainly describes major developments in China’ s demand for petroleum products over the past ten years and overviews the effects of those changes for motor fuel prices in the United States through 2010.In all the prominent theoretical results of the Functionalist Theory,the translator mainly takes the Text Typology Theory and the Skopos Theory as the research’s theoretical basis and under the guidance of these theories hopes to study and discuss the translation strategies and methods aiming at the translation difficulties in the economic text.This paper is a translation report and includes four chapters.The first chapter primarily introduces the translation project,including the research background,research purposes and significance;the second chapter mainly focuses on the background of source text,including the author,main idea,stylistic and linguistic features;the third chapter describes the translation process,including the theoretical basis and translation difficulties,and discusses the translation strategies adopted by the translator to deal with translation difficulties in the economic text from the perspective of specific theories,thus the translator,premised on the text type and reader-orientation,hopes to convey the information of the source text more accurately and fully by applying some translation strategies like amplification,extension,reordering and division;the fourth chapter mainly summarizes the revelation,limitations and problems to be resolved.
