A Case Study Of Translating "Shinto And Japanese"(Chapter Six And Chapter Seven)

As international exchanges between China and Japan has been increasingly close,good works of Japanese writers,very popular actors,voice actor starred in the TV series,cartoons have been widely received because of translation.The translation practice is an extract of "Shinto and Japanese"(NJU Press published in January 2016)which is a non-fiction book,introducing literature,history by Shinto mythology narrative and interviews with people engaged in Shinto successively.In order to get a better translation practice,before translating I did a lot of research about this text and read a large number of Shinto-related books and dictionaries and got a general understanding of the Shinto system,meanwhile reading related professional books about the Japanese proper nouns,long sentences,and passive sentences.In addition,many Japanese Chinese translation theories and techniques have been learned from the daily curriculum.Taking into account the significance of this book(NJU Press Japanese book series),the writer of this thesis changed the narrative ways and style to meet the readers reading habits.Then specific examples have been listed to describe methods of dealing with Japanese proper nouns,long sentences and passive sentences in translation practice.It is argued in this thesis that the translation of Japanese proper nouns should take full consideration of the source text to maximize the retention of source language culture characteristics.Using translation methods-alienation to deal with the translation of the Japanese proper nouns is an ideal choice.For most Japanese learners,the difficulty of Japanese long sentence translation is confusion about the elements of Japanese long sentences(modifier,attributive complement,more logical and closer relationships between components).Therefore,the writer of this thesis put forward the "macro-microscopic-macro" analysis method in Japanese long sentences translation.In the translation of Japanese passive sentences the writer of this thesis drew on advice for Japanese passive sentences from Gao Ning,put forward a translation strategy that the translation of Japanese passive sentences should not be arrested in the surface structure of source language,we must first understand the meaning and grammatical function of Japanese passive sentences,and selected specific translation strategies according to target language and expression specification habits.Finally,the writer of this thesis has summed up the following ideas:First,the translator of the works should hold a proper attitude towards the translation work,in order to bring a perfect translation version.Second,before the translation,the translator should make a detailed translation plan to guarantee the quality of translation practice.Third,while translating some professional work,the translator needs to further enhance and expand their own knowledge and horizon.In addition,this thesis also has several drawbacks:First,some terms in the translation of the text was inconsistent,it is necessary to do in the further memo recording translation activities.Second,we must continue to refine the translation version.Third,it is necessary to expand the scope of translators' reading to cope with a variety of stylistic themes.
