Report On The Interpretation Of The Chinese TV Series History Will Remember Forever In The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

With the development of the society and Internet technology,the world’s communication becomes more and more frequent,more and more people directly or indirectly get it through television and network to learn foreign countries’ culture and history.China is an increasingly influential country,and there are many translated TV dramas exported.But subjects should be more diversified,like History Will Remember Forever,paying much attention to the national,ethnic values.There should be more translation lovers to promote the traditional virtues of our nation,historical truth,making people have an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the history of Chinese.With the guidance of Nida’s Functional Equivalence theory,an hour material of History Will Remember Forever was chosen as the translation object,mainly about the fifth and parts of the sixth episode,this report covers the language features analysis,mood analysis,semantics and frame synchronization,and cultural differences.In the translation process,dealing with several examples with literal translation,interpretation,omission,supplement,simplification and other methods are used in the thesis.In this report,it firstly describes the background knowledge and task description;then it describes the preparation,including language characteristics analysis of TV language,background knowledge collection,such as functional equivalence theory,drama translation skills,words reference;then discuss the origin,development,connotation,requirement and principle of functional equivalence theory;then shows many examples from the vocabulary,sentence level,reflection of functional equivalence theory in translation,combining with case analysis of strategy use;last it is about the summary of practice,including the problems in translation and enlightenment for the future study and learning.Interpretation needs practice,and this translation practice is a valuable experience,the author will continue to to do better on the way of interpretation.
