Self-identity is a long-standing concept, during which period, adolescence and early adulthood explore themselves, and the development of self-identity is often accompanied by many external factors, such as the increase of social pressure, the changes of the growth enviroment as well as their inner heart. With the rapid development of information technology,Internet quickly spreads to everyone’s daily life, resulting in great changes of individuals’ living enviroment. The existence of cyberspace creates favorable conditions for individuals to communicate with each other,to entertain,to share information and to do other activities, which not only influences individuals’ lives, but also contributes to explore themselves. Therefore, the article tries to disscuss whether the self-identity will change in the social network situation. The relation between individuals and network directly lies in the use of Social Network Sites as well as the self-presentation strategies of individuals during the process of using them. The meaning of the research is to explore the development of individuals’ self-identity through the SNSs motivation and self-presentation strategy variables, extending the reasearch to a wider, social netework background. The purpose of the research is to examine the relationship among the use of social network sites(SNSs),self-presentation strategies and self-identity in the example of 666 college students. The results showed as follows:(1)The self-designed College Students’SNSs Self-presentation Strategies Questionnaire includes 3 demensions, which are positive self-presentation,vague self-presentation and honest self-presentation.It’s reliable and valid for measuring the SNSs self-presentation strategies among college students.(2)SNSs usage motives are negatively related to college students’self-identity.(3)SNSs self-presentation strategies are negatively related to college students’ self-identity.(4)SNSs usage motives are positively related to SNSs self-presentation strategies.(5)College students’ self-identity are negatively predicted by SNSs usage motives.(6)College students’ self-identity are nagetively predicted by positive and vague self-presentation strategies but are positively predicted by honest self-presentation strategy, which plays a mediating but hiding role between College students’ SNSs usage motives and self-identity.The results show that to a degree, college students’ SNSs motivations and self-presentation stretegies have an effect on their self-identity,and honest self-presentation strategy plays a mediating role between College students’ SNSs usage motives and self-identity.
