Investigation On Media Function Of Xun Country’s Ancient Temple Fair In The New Era

The temple fair is a traditional ritualized annual convention of China,which reflects the development of regional civilization and the innovation of living patterns through its transmutation of thousands of years.The temple fair,which staged in a specific time horizon,is construed as a functional media in this article,thereby exploring media functions of the temple fair in the context of the new era.The field of traditional media study is confined within the scope of mass media,such as newspaper,television,internet,etc.Mcluhan`s "The media is the message" has broaden the research area of media and built a solid fundation for the investigation of media ecology.This concept enlightens the current study into the field of media ecology.As a combination of ritualization and space,the temple fair has characteristics of interpersonal communication,and connecting human with nature as well as the society,of which the core nature is essentially consistent with massive media.Videlicet,the Xun Country`s ancient temple fair itself is served as the media,organizers and participants of the temple fair hold the post of disseminators,and all the information generated in the temple fair is the broadcast content.Besides,every kind of participants who are affected by the temple fair play the role of audiences.These elements conspire together to establish the integrated dissemination process of information.The research subject of this study is the “Xun Country`s ancient temple fair”.The field investigation and literature research method are applied to explore the development and current situation of the ancient temple fair,also to analyze the category and features of temple fairs of Central Plains.The purpose of this study is to discuss the mechanism of temple fair`s media attributes and functions.In addition,the strategy that how disseminators utilizing media functions to promote the progress of the temple fair will also be investigated.Therefore,based on basethe core hypothesis that Xun Country`s ancient temple fair is a media,this study intends to answer the following questions:(1)Whether the Xun Country`s ancient temple fair has media functions;(2)What are these media functions?(3)How to implement these media functions,And(4)How to utilize the media function to develop local folk culture? Hence,this thesis is partitioned centered on the five tasks mentioned above.The thesis is divided into five sections.Firstly,introduction section expounds the research background and significance of the Xun Country`s ancient temple fair when it is acted as the media.The objective of this section is to summarize the gathered literatures of the Xun Country`s ancient temple fair and media functions;From the general summary to concrete discussion,the first chapter elucidates the basic characteristics of the traditional temple fair and analyses the category as well as the manifestation of temple fair in the Central China.Moreover,this chapter emphatically narrates the formation,development and evolution of the Xun Country`s ancient temple fair and further investigates the current situation of temple fairs under the background of the new era;The second and third chapter are the emphases of this thesis which determines the media attributes of temple fair and analyses its media function from the perspective of media ecology;Furthermore,the maintain tactics for the temple fair`s media functions and communication strategy for the temple fair culture are discussed in the fourth chapter.
