Biography is a sort of literature,which generally consists of two parts:the historical biography and the biographical literature.The Australia literature made a great achievement since 20th century.In recently years,the Chinese versions of the Australia works are more and more.But the number of the scholars in China study the Australia literatre is fewer than that the English and America literature at present.Also,the study of Australia literature is not as complete as that of English and America literature.The scholars who study Jolley’s works are not so much.The translation practice report mainly introduces writing experience and the published works of Elizabeth Jolley.Nowadays more and more scholars begin to study the biography.According to the study of biography,the translator could know the life and the works’ theme of the man or men in the biography.The translation practice report mainly studies the chapter nine of the Doing Life:A Biography of Elizabeth Jolley which Brian Dibble wrote for the great novelist Elizabeth Jolley.The book was published by the Western Australia Press in August,1998.In the translation practice report,it mainly studies in the four parts:the task description,the translation process description,the case study and the conclusion.In the translation text,the adverbs especially the adverbs ended with ’ly’ and the adverbial clauses are representative.The translator studies the translation strategies of the adverb and adverbial clause in the direction of the British modem translator and translation theorist of Peter Newmark-Correlative Translation.From the translation practice report,the scholars could know more about the information of the Australia culture,Elizabeth Jolley and her works.It could be the reference for other translators to study the Australia literary.
