At the beginning of the 20 th century,modern art broke through the shackles of tradition and began to flourish,resulting in many newschools of art,post-impressionism,brutalism,cubism,and so on.It is the Paris school,which does not belong to any genre.Most of the artists of this genre came from different countries,and they were not in the same art concept and style,but instead of sticking to their own unique style of painting,so the genre named by region.Among the major players are Modigliani,ShamsuddinandUtrillo,and an artist from the east,TsuguharuFoujita.As the first western painter to be known in the western art world,he studied oil painting techniques from Kuroda Seiki,which is a representative of the foreign-ray school,and then began his free artistic journey.He created a unique style of painting with ink,cleverly blending eastern lines with western paintings,and created paintings with Oriental charm."Brilliant ivory" conquered the Paris art scene and made him a world-famous Oriental artist.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part gives an overview of the research background,purpose and value of the research,as well as the research contents and methods,so as to give readers a general understanding of the subject.The second part gives a brief introduction to the formation of the Paris school and the three representatives of the Paris school.The third part outlines the life and art history of TsuguharuFoujita.The fourth part summarizes formation factors of TsuguharuFoujita’s painting style,including early influenced by float world draw,and how inspired by French diversified art to form his own style,and analyzes the different periods of paintings,to understand his unique techniques and styles.In the fifth part,I compare the similarities and differences of the TsuguharuFoujita’s painting styles with the famous Chinese painter ChangYu.The sixth part is about the author how to learn and study TsuguharuFoujita’smodelling technique of painting,to carrypainting style on the experiment,to explore how to mix the eastern and western paintingbetter,and form our own painting language.The last part is the conclusion.
