As one of the most classic children's literature work,Alice 's Adventures in Wonderland has attracted generations of readers because of its humorous language style as well as absurd and fantasy plot since its publication. Its translation version was also welcomed in China.Although, there are more than one version of Alice 's Adventures in Wonderland in China, many of them have been published and Zhao Yuanren's translation was regarded as the authoritative version.Due to social background, language evolution, cultural custom changes and other reasons, coupled with the translator's subjectivity, outdated and imperfect problems still exist in many versions, causing some misunderstanding and deviation. Therefore,it is worthy of constantly thinking and improving for a new generation of translator and reader.By referring to Zhao Yuanren's version, the author intends to summarize the difficulties encountered when translating the first five chapters of translation of Alice 's Adventures in Wonderland, then lists translation examples and adopts specific and corresponding translation skills and methods to come up with solving measures, which helps readers better understand the original text and even other children's literature works, thus making a little contribution to the dissemination and development of foreign children literature in China. This translation report firstly gives a brief account of significance of translation, literature review, task description and translation process including pre-translation,in-translation and post-translation stages.Pre-translation stage introduces translation tools and understanding of children's literature.In-translation stage analyzes characteristics of the source text and parallel text reference. And post-translation aims to improve translation quality through check and modification on the basis of collecting suggestions of classmates and supervisor.During translation process, the translator came across many difficulties which could be roughly divided into difficulties in rhetorical style and cultural differences aspects, and the later one affects the former one to some degree. As for rhetorical style, the translator selects pun, alliteration and assonance as study contents. And cultural difficulties include allusion and idiom. Then, the author discusses the difficulties and analyzes the words and their cultural connotation. In order to solve these translation difficulties, the author concludes three kinds of translation methods:firstly, based on the three difficulties in the rhetorical style, the author uses the method of classifying translation difficulties, dividing the pun into the three types for different translations;uses the method of imitating linguistic stylistic style to reproduce the style of the text in the alliteration and assonance;with the difficulties of cultural differences brought by allusion and idioms, the author applies cultural filtering method to solve the difficulties through three auxiliary translation methods, namely addition, reduction and adaption. On the whole, from the perspective of reproducing the form and style of foreign children's literature, the author hopes that the translation will be accepted and appreciated by more Chinese readers through the above three methods of translation.
