The Ministry of education,under the guidance of the basic task of curriculum reform,for the first time to put the concept of "core competence" included,is put on the priority among priorities of the position of curriculum development,curriculum standards,revised scheme and academic quality standards are the core competence as an important basis.Since the curriculum reform in the concept of core competence,the core connotation of literacy for different angles of diversification,drawing on the premise of the research on the core qualities of domestic and international experts and scholars,China clearly defined core competence as "essential character and key ability,which is the ability students must have,in their personal life and social development.In the course of English learning,students need various abilities.And English reading literacy is one of the important abilities.English reading literacy directly reflects students' English learning level.Therefore,it is an important benchmark to measure a student's English learning level.In order to learn English in school,teachers should focus on training students' reading literacy level,not only for students' lifelong learning,but also for laying a solid foundation for their future development.The transformation from knowledge based to human standard shows that China's basic education has entered a new era,the era of core literacy.In such an international and domestic background,this paper aims to study Sustained Silent Reading(Sustained(SSR)Silent Reading)and a variety of traditional "test oriented reading(Test-Oriented Reading)"(TOR)activity pattern.Two models,SSR and TOR,are helpful for students to improve their skills and abilities,but in English reading,namely,reading ability and character level of performance has very big difference,and the study shows: the students to continue reading showed greater interest and expectation,and SSR is more helpful than TOR to improve the students reading ability and character level,the long-term development of the students is profound,which is the source of the lasting power of the students.So in order to reinforcement learning motivation of students,the author focuses on the function of sustained silent reading,and also in view of this,decide to increase the proportion of Sustained Silent Reading Teaching Mode in Senior English reading teaching: the classroom teaching "X reading thinking + 1share"(X+1)model,to improve the teaching,the effect of English reading in senior high school,and lay a solid foundation for the lifelong development of students.
