Teacher talk,which is a kind of target language in English teaching class,but also a teaching tool that teachers use in the class.English learning in junior middle schools,is an important stage for English learners,and the key period to develop the students’ learning habits and learning abilities.It can lay a good foundation for students’ learning in the future.In the compulsory education period,teachers should not only have professional knowledge,but also stick to the dominant position in teaching.They are the organizer of teaching activities,and shall lead and guide the student to study in the English classroom.Teacher talk in junior high school classroom,especially the teaching discourse,will directly affect the development of students’ learning ability and improve teachers’ teaching quality;therefore it is necessary for teachers to carry out their own teaching plans through classroom discourse.In most of the researches on teacher talk,the research field mainly focuses on English teacher talk in high schools and universities while the research on junior middle school teachers’ discourse is limited.This research is based on the language Output Theory,Input Theory and Interaction Theory.The researcher goes into the real junior high school English class to collect the direct feedback in the classroom,and explores the current situation of the teacher talk in the middle school English classroom in the compulsory education stage under the new curriculum standard.To reflect the teaching situation by taking video and sending the questionnaires to students,the researcher points out the need of teacher improvement.On the basis of this study,aiming at the shortage of teachers in the discourse,this paper puts forward some improvement suggestions: first,to focus on the students in the classroom,to control the amount of teacher talk;second,to improve the comprehensive quality of junior high school teachers,including language knowledge ability,learning ability and research ability;third,to improve the quality of teacher talk in junior high school,and to strengthen the classroom teaching design;fourth,to strengthen the classroom interaction;fifth,to improve teachers’ questioning skill,to strengthen thinking ability of students;sixth,to improve the teachers’ feedback on students to give studentsreasonable praise and criticism.Therefore,in order to enhance and promote the development of junior middle school English teachers’ teaching ability,we need to analyze and discuss teachers’ talk from different perspectives,so as to promote junior middle school students’ English learning.
