| This thesis is based on the translation of the second half of the annual report on China-U.S.Trade Issues,released on January 23,2018 by the U.S.Congressional Research Service(CRS)on its official website.The Congressional Research Service,a non-partisan resource center in the United States Congress,serves directly to the U.S.legislative branch,providing information,research,technical evaluation and other services.Over the past 40 years,China-U.S.trade and its cooperation on investment have brought great benefits to the economies and business circles of both countries.Economic and trade frictions in the past have been resolved through constructive means.In today’s world,there is no other bilateral relationship that impacts the world more than China-U.S.bilateral relations.Similarly,the relationship between China and the U.S.has an increasingly important role in addressing global economic challenges.Therefore,the author chooses to use this text as the foundation to support this report,which has a realistic significance,providing the Chinese language text for the China-U.S.relations research scholar and the interested reader.The translation text is an economic and trade report,which belongs to the information text and is characterized by accurate information transmission.Text language has the characteristics of simplicity,preciseness and logic,which should be embodied and preserved in the process of translation.Nida’s theory of functional equivalence pays attention to the readers’ sentiment,emphasizes the information transmission,and is suitable for guiding the original text,helping to realize the information exchange more accurately between source text and translated text.Based on the analysis of lexical,syntactic and textual aspects,this translation report provides six solutions,guided by the theory of functional equivalence translation,hoping to help the translation of similar economic and trade reports. |
