Research On Pre-Qin Period Bronze Weapons Unearthed In Gansu

As the important enclave of the Zhou Dynasty and the birthplace of the Qin people,historical and cultural relics in Gansu is abundant.The special geographical location of Gansu makes it a hub connecting the Central Plains Dynasty and the ethnic tribes,which leads to complicated and diverse cultural features of the pre-Qin period in Gansu region.So far,a large number of bronze wares have been unearthed in Gansu and extensively studied by previous people.However,most of these studies only focused on bronze ritual ware but seldom mentioned the bronze weapons.This paper attempts to study the bronze weapons unearthed in Gansu province in terms of typology,stage dating and weapons combination,and to construct the evolution sequence of all kinds of bronze weapons in Gansu area,and to analyze the cultural factors contained in the bronze weapons.There are six parts in this paper: chapter 1,introduction.The introduction summarizes the natural geography of Gansu and the historical evolution of the pre-Qin Dynasty,explains the reason and significance of the research,and gives a brief description of the present research situation and research methods of bronze weapons.Chapter 2 is a comprehensive and systematic retrieval of the excavation briefs and research works and a collection of all the materials of bronze weapons unearthed in Gansu.On this basis,the collected bronze weapons could be analyzed and the rules of development and evolution could be discussed.Chapter 3 is the stages and sections analysis of bronze weapons unearthed in Gansu,which divided into four stages and seven sections.The first period is the late period of the pre-Zhou Dynasty.The second period is the early Western Zhou Dynasty to the late Western Zhou Dynasty.The third period is from the early Spring and Autumn period to the late warring States period,and the fourth period is from the late warring States period to the early Qin Dynasty.Chapter 4 is the combination study of bronze weapons unearthed in Gansu.Main points in this chapter are the analysis of the combination characteristics of each stage and the changes of various bronze weapons in the pre-Qin period,and the relationship between the combination of weapons and the burial specifications.Chapter 5,the study the burial customs of "destroying soldiers" in Gansu.This chapter discusses the types,quantity,and methods of "destroying soldiers" in the pre-Qin period and analyzes the intention of "destroying soldiers".Chapter 6 analyzes the cultural factors of the bronze weapons unearthed in Gansu.Through the analysis of the cultural factors of the bronze weapons unearthed in Gansu,can it concludes that there are five cultural types of bronze weapons in Gansu: Shang culture,Zhou culture,Qin culture,northern grassland culture(nomadic culture)and the western cultures.There are three main innovations of this paper: 1.The comprehensively and systematically collection and sorting works of the materials of bronze weapons unearthed in Gansu Province during the pre-Qin period,which is the lack of work by previous people.2.This paper makes typological analysis of bronze weapons unearthed in Gansu in the pre-Qin period,and on this basis can makes the phase analysis.3.The paper discusses cultural factors of bronze weapons unearthed in the pre-Qin period in Gansu Province,though which can it explores the connection between the central plain culture,the culture of northern or western and the minority culture in the "pre-Silk Road period".
