In the present study of the consecutive interpreting of Premier Wen Jiabao’s government press conference(2003)common mistakes and omissions in translating of Chinese idioms through a detailed analysis,focused on investigating and identifying existing obstacles in the process of interpretation,were revealed and studied.Basic root causes of mistakes and omissions when interpreting in conferences,their types and characteristics were determined;certain solutions and strategies that may help to limit or avoid interpreting obstacles were suggested as well.The research is based on the case of the in-class work on the seminar “Consecutive interpretation of the press conference held by Premier Wen Jiabao in 2003”.The recordings of the MTI graduates from Heilongjiang University of 2016 class were studied.The present research is relevant due to phraseology is comparatively new domain of lexicology and it requires a lot of further research.It is significant for vocabulary enlargement and enrichment.The present study will make theoretical and practical contributions to consecutive interpreting of Chinese idioms by guiding the interpreters on how re-create the idioms in the target language in a way that they will express the exact meaning and preserve the same concept of the original language,thus improving performance skills and proficiency in the field of interpreting.
