The Interpretation Strategies Under The Guidance Of Adaptation Theory

As the closer culture exchanges between China and the west,the interpretation has sprung up with more and more interpreters involved in the interpretation work.A correct strategy used in interpretation can well release the workers’ burden and improve the efficiency of interpretation.Therefore,the study of the strategies in the interpretation practice is very important.The author’s interpretation practice report is based on the transcripts of the interpretation in the global suppliers’ conference held by the Xiantao government and the Xiaomi Company together.This study is guided under the Adaptation Theory in order to put forward that by analyzing the application of adaptation in interpretation process and using the interpretation strategies which aims to achieve adaptation in interpretation practice,the interpreter can make the interpreting process more fluent and more effective.This thesis consists of the following five parts.In the first chapter,the author introduces the background,profile,purpose and significance of the task.Then he shows the structure of the thesis.In chapter two,the author first gives an overview about the Adaptation Theory and then illustrates the four aspects of this theory,which includes the aspect of contextual adaptation,structural adaptation,dynamic adaptation and salient adaptation.At the end of this chapter,the author introduces the domestic studies of the Adaptation Theory applied in interpretation and concludes that the inter:preting process is also an adaptation process.In chapter three,the author illustrates the three procedures in this interpretation practice namely the preparation before the conference,interpretation process and after interpretation.In chapter four,the author uses the Adaptation Theory to analyze this interpretation practice at first and then gives four strategies including the amplification and omission,division,repetition and rewriting with specific examples to analyze the application of adaptation in the practice report.In the last chapter,the author concludes his findings and shortcomings of this study and also puts forward his hopes and suggestions.
