“The Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong LTD”,a non-profit organization which is subordinated to “Cantonese Artists Association of Hong Kong”,have put great responsibility in Cantonese opera talent cultivation for more than 30 years.Moreover,according to the needs of society,the curriculum settings are continuously revised,and the scope of cooperation is expanded.There is a high degree of professionalism and extensive basic universality in the education of Cantonese opera,which is considerable research value.In the first part of the study,the school background of The Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong LTD would be reviewed,and its historical origin would be compiled in four different perspectives: historical attributes,traceability,formal opening,and changes in the trend.Moreover,the environmental impact factors of Cantonese opera education of CAAHK would be analyzed from aspects of physical geographical environment and cultural environment by using cultural geography,educational economics,and other disciplines.In the second part,the author investigated the learning life of the subject deeply and compiled a class ethnography record by setting the “Young Cantonese Opera Performers Training Course” as the primary study object.Furthermore,the most representative secondary schools(Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lu Yun Choi Memorial Secondary School Junior School Cantonese Opera Arts Course)and the University(Hong Kong University of Education Cantonese Opera Introduction Course)in the "Guangdong Opera Teaching Collaboration Project" were selected to conduct a field trip.The progressing current situation of Cantonese opera education of TCOAHK would also be interpreted and analyzed from its teaching mode,teaching evaluation,educational resources,and educational strategies.The third part of the study is a functional analysis of the Cantonese opera education of TCOAHK.In this chapter,the theories of educational ecology and educational anthropology were used,in term of the characteristics of the education of TCOAHK,which were considered as an educational ecosystem,to makes an analysis of internal functions and external functions.The conclusion is drawn as below: its internal functions are to train Cantonese opera specialists,cultivate multiple intelligences,and enhance cultural identity;external functions are to preserve the performances and training venues of Cantonese opera,integrate the educational resources of Cantonese opera,balance the cultural and educational ecology of music,and achieve cultural heritage of Cantonese opera.
