The Study Of ShangLu’s Political Accomplishments During The Period Of JingTai And ChengHua In The Ming Dynasty

ShangLu is offcially recognized as the only person who obtained the three highest literary degrees in succession throughout the history of the Ming Dynasty.He was an outstanding representative of the Grand Secretariat of Jingtai and Chenghua.The Tenth years of Zhengtong,ShangLu got the first place in the imperial examination and then got into the officialdom.After "The Tumu debacle",He entered the Grand Secretariat of Jingtai.After the act of "forcing of the palace gate",he was lost his job and became the freedom usual person.At the beginning of the curing,he was back again.The highest of his political life is being the top management for the Grand Secretariat.In the Thirteenth years of Chenghua,ShangLu had been withdrawal of from the west department was got forced to resign.These are his zigzag path to politics.ShangLu has at the beginning of the transition from prosperity to decay in the Ming Dynasty,and also He witnessed violent and rapid political changes in the middle of the Ming Dynasty and also being the most important role in this case.Not only Chenghua Emperor gave ShangLu the best management,and also he is the great merit of help,but also the later generations praised him as a wise and capable Prime Minister.The report separate for three parts,first part,a comprehensive introduction to the life of ShangLu from several aspects including family background,learning experience,ternary and official experience.The second part of this report refers to uses two chapters to select six important political events witnessed and participated in ShangLu ’s political career as examples,and also including during the period of the Jingtai and before and after "The Tumu debacle",Jingtai Emperor replaced the crown prince,the Southern Palace was restored,and the ministers of the Chenghua period chanted outside the Wenhua Gate to the emperor to petition,appointed ZhuYoucheng as crown prince and cancel the west department.These are all clues to ShangLu,trying to restore and analyze the historical truth,and reflecting the political attitudes,political actions,and political wisdom of ShangLu at different stages using historical facts.The third part of my essay taking ShangLu’s memorial to the throne as the main basis,combining the political status of the three emperors in the middle of the Ming Dynast.From the three perspectives of being the principle and method to be followed by the monarch,the idea based on the people,and the military frontier defense ideology,the theory is linked with specific historical events,and ShangLu’s political thought and measures are thoroughly analyzed and discussed.Through for the research of ShangLu,can reflect the fierce imperial power struggle in the middle term of the Ming Dynasty,and also for the choice of the ruling class between the monarchy and the state,and the division of the political factions of the scholar bureaucrat group,and their traditional etiquette,moral persistence and compromise,the mutual restriction and power of the two groups of courtiers and eunuchs,etc.For the information that we all know about depth,it is helpful to analyze the political situation in the mid-term of the Ming Dynasty.It also brings important enlightenment to the political construction of today’s society.As for today,the academic circle of history,the less research for ShangLu,and most of it is a brief summary of life and merit,the research is neither thorough nor comprehensive.This paper is based researched on historical data and contemporary monograph.For ShangLu’s whole life as a full part research,and also related with the state of the Ming court,and for political achievements and political thought were analyzed of ShangLu.
