Abduction-A Study Of The Signs In The Image Dominant Culture

As the essential condition for human beings to seek significance,signs explain the purpose for human beings’ discovery of the significance of their existence is to affirm their existence,and signs demonstrate the progress of their ideologies and cultures in human society.It is based on the foundation of recurrence and antithesis in western world,and this kind of antithesis could make us clearly objectify significance and then master a clear separation of significance with the influence of western science.However,with the alienation of interpretation of signs under the culture of image main causes,significance is depleting.The cause of the depletion is that,as the main cause of culture,images transform the interpretation of signs produced in bulk and accelerate the production and consumption of significance.Therefore,the separation of significance in the West seems not to provide a kind of creative trial-and-error process for the production and consumption of contemporary significance.Due to the conversion from linguistics to iconography,significance is digested and abraded by images.The significance of signs is depleted by reproduction and derived meanings.Humankind is gradually brought into an illusion of significance with images as its structures.Under this circumstance,alienation is imposed on society,culture and individuals to some extent.What this kind of alienation brings is the internal depletion of significance and the consumption of consumption;it is cultural crisis resulting from excessive dependence of contemporary production and consumption on signs.When the antithesis and recurrence,simplification and separation of significance in the West is not very effective,whether there will be a trial-and-error process which could solve this problem and create new significance.This is the core of study in this article.In the process of constant sliding and depletion of signs and significance,the interrelation between a subject and an object provides a possible trial-and-error process-Abduction.As a kind representation of subordinate force,Abduction is the recurrence of interpretations and structures,is to construct itself by introducing other significance into itself.Simply speaking,Abduction is to deconstruct structures of others in order to make clear where the significance exists and points;and then establish or create the significance of itself on the basis of mastering and introducing other significance.By this kind of trial-and-error process,Abduction conducts error trails and explores it,which could reduce internal depletion of significance and meaningless deduction,resulting in more possibilities of arousing and creating new significance.It is a kind of post-modern structure of inclusiveness.Facing increasing globalization and cultural phenomenon,the author thinks of this as a kind of trial-and-error means and strategy for solving cultural contradiction and developing regional cultural significance under the crisis of significance or the contradiction of significance.The study in this article will analyze the status of signs under the culture of image main causes with the application of theories and phenomenon of semiotics,iconography and visual culture,and deduce the whereabouts and characteristics of Abduction based on the author’s cognition and mastering of structures of signs.
