The Preliminary Study On The Main Sources Of Materials In The Nineteenth Century Of Zhou Zuo Ren Modern History Of European Literature

Zhou Zuo ren’s Modern History of European Literature was written on the basis of his History of European Literature.The lecture relies on a large number of English and Japanese literary history,pioneering Chinese writing tradition of literary history.Among the lecture,the nineteenth century literary history had a great impact on Zhou Zuoren as well as a new generation of Chinese writers,and the most important regions were France,Russia and Scandinavian area.This paper focuses on the main material sources of the famous writers in the nineteenth century from the three regions mentioned above,with consideration to Zhou Zuoren’s literary ideology.The first chapter discusses “the spirit of the times”,exploring Zhou Zuoren’s inheritance and development of the form and kernel of Taine and George Brandes;The second chapter discusses the main material sources of the era of the legendary of nineteenth century,with Lady de Stael,Chateaubriand,Hugo,Balzac from French,Pushkin,Lermontov from Russia,Andersen from Scandinavian area as representatives.Due to the fact that Northern European literature bears little attention from the popular literary history textbooks,this paper adds an introduction of Scandinavian area literature in the nineteenth century;The third chapter discusses the main source of the realism era of the nineteenth Century,with Flaubert,Zola,Maupassant,Baudelaire from French,Gogol,Turgenev,Dostoevsky,Tolstoj from Russia,Ibsen,Bjornson from Scandinavian area as representatives;The fourth chapter is the conclusion drawn from the source materials.
