A Study On Moral Indifference In The View Of Social Trust

Moral indifference is a sort of relatively universal and increasingly negative moral phenomenon in the current society.Tolstoy once said,“the root of all human misfortunes is not famine,not fire,and not only those perpetrators,but their separate lives.” From the “Peng Yu case”,the “little Yue Yue event” to the recent “Jiang Ge incident”,these social misfortunes are not totally caused by evildoers’ misdeeds,but to a considerable extent,all are the result of choosing to look on coldly in order to protect themselves when others are in life-or-death crisis and in urgent need of help,at the bottom,the lack of basic trust between people is the most fundamental cause.The palliative of the wicked is the cruelty to the innocent,also has moral viciousness and destroys the social moral environment! Therefore,in the face of the current situation of moral indifference,we cannot just condemn this phenomenon,but require to deeply analyze the reasons of its formation and probe into the countermeasures to solve the problem,thereby overcoming such phenomenon of moral indifference,changing the moral habits of the whole society,and promoting the improvement of social members’ moral level.This paper attempts to study this subject in the analytical framework of social trust.The content includes three parts: the introduction,the main text,and the conclusion.The introduction elaborates the study background and significance,the domestic and foreign study status,study methods,innovations and deficiencies.The main text is divided into four chapters:The first chapter analyzes the issues related to the phenomenon of moral indifference,which mainly includes the concept,types,specific characteristics of moral indifference and manifestations in different fields,also analyzes its essence in depth,pointing out that a key reason for the the phenomenon of moral indifference is the lack of social trust.The second chapter discusses the relationship between the lack of social trust and moral indifference,and points out that the lack of social trust has seriously aggravated the spread of the phenomenon of moral indifference.The third chapter further analyzes the serious harm that the appearance of moral indifference causes on account of the lack of social trust to the whole society from the perspective of social trust,and emphasizes the significance of improving social trust in solving the current problem of social moral indifference.According to the actual situation of the current society,the fourth chapter from the political,economic,cultural,social,and individual different views puts forward to establish a effective social trust mechanism,specifically through the construction of trusted government,the establishment of sincere market environment,the creation of a trustful social and cultural atmosphere,the building of trustful system guarantee and so on,in order to shape a universal social trust environment and improve the overall trust level,so as to fundamentally solve the phenomenon of moral indifference and boost the development of the harmonious socialist society.On the basis of the above discussion and analysis,the conclusion summarizes that the improvement of social trust and the eradication of moral indifference must be a arduous and complex system engineering,which can not be accomplished overnight,but requires long-term efforts to achieve.Therefore,only through the perseverance,high attention and combined efforts of the whole society,can the long process be gradually realized.
