This is a report on the translation of Privacy: What Everyone Needs to Know,which is written by Leslie P.Francis and John G.Francis.There are ten chapters in this book,and Chapter 8,“Privacy on the Internet and in Social Media: The Worldwide and Interactive Internet”,is chosen as the translation material,which mainly discusses the concept of dark web,the Internet of things and social media,the consequent issues of privacy and security,and how to protect our privacy on social media.This report consists of five chapters.Chapter One is the translation project description,including the background,objective and significance of the report.Chapter Two is the background of the source text,including the author introduction,main contents of the source text,and analysis of the source text.Chapter Three is about translation theories and the theoretical basis is communicative translation theory.Chapter Four is about translation difficulties and methods,including analyzing technical terms,long and difficult sentences and translation skills,including amplification,omission,repetition and so on.Chapter Five is the conclusion of the translation project,including the enlightenment,lessons,and unsolved problems during translation practice.
