A Report On The Simulated Interpreting Practice Of Yunnan Friendship Award Ceremony

This report is based on the simulated conference interpreting practice of Yunnan Friendship Award ceremony.Yunnan Friendship Award was set up by the Government of Yunnan Province to honour outstanding foreign experts who working in Yunnan for their endeavor and contribution to the development of Yunnan Province.This simulated conference was conducted in the simultaneous interpreting training room.Analysis on the recorded interpreting transcript has been done with the guidance of theories such as the Interpretive Theory put forward by Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation of the University of Paris.The Effort Model and the Interpreting Comprehension Formula were put forward by Daniel Gile.In addition,some research findings and strategies put forward by researchers and professional interpreters were also referred to.This report consists of two parts.The first part is the transcript of interpreting and the second part is the interpreting report,with description of the interpreting task,interpreting process and analysis as well as summary after interpreting included.In terms of analysis,this report mainly focuses on interpreting strategy of simultaneous interpreting,including syntactic linearity,anticipation,omission and explanatory translation.After analysis of the interpreting strategy,there is the interpreting quality assessment,with a quantitative statistics of errors,analysis of errors and causes,as well as the correction included.The last part is the conclusion which summarized the acquirement,deficiencies and problems as well as inspiration for interpreting practice.
