High school students are generally faced with the plight of vocabulary acquisition.They only recite the basic meanings of the words,and have difficulty using them in actual communication and writing.In this regard,The New Curriculum Standard of Senior High School puts forward that vocabulary acquisition is supposed to focus on the use of vocabulary,rather than the recognition,identification of vocabulary.New Curriculum Standard brings new challenges to English vocabulary teaching,and how to get out of the current predicament is a difficult problem to be solved in the foreign language teaching field.As an ideal language teaching unit,the lexical chunk,which combines the functions of grammar,semantics and context,is the key to the fluency and accuracy of speech expression.At present,chunks research mainly explores the characteristics,similarities and differences of lexical chunks'usage.Besides,how to combine Lexical Approach with other teaching methods effectively to make college classroom vocabulary teaching and language teaching more efficient is a research hot spot.Some study the complex psychological mechanism behind chunk processing and acquisition.Current studies mainly focus on college students,and there are few studies combine learning strategies with lexical chunks.This thesis studies the levels of lexical chunks competence of the 10~thh Grade students and the learning strategies mainly employed by them and then it further analyzes the main factors affecting students'lexical chunks acquisition.At last,the author puts forward some suggestions on lexical chunks teaching.This study adopted quantitative research method.This research mainly adopted competence test and questionnaire with high reliability and validity.The competence test was designed by Liu(2015).Xia's(2011)lexical chunks learning strategy questionnaire was adopted to investigate the strategies students mainly apply.The research questions mainly concentrates on the following three aspects:the level of lexical competence of the 10~thh Grade students;the main learning strategies used by students and the main factors influencing the learning effect of the 10~thh Grade students when learning lexical chunks.The sample studied is from four parallel classes in Wafang Senior High School of Longyang District,Baoshan city.There are 122students among which 47 students are schoolboys and 75 are schoolgirls.When all data was collected and recorded,the data was analyzed by SPSS18.0 for Windows,and descriptive analysis,Pearson correlation analysis and factor analysis were used for data analysis.Statistical analysis shows that after three and a half years,the subjects have developed certain level of lexical chunks ability and lexical chunks awareness,but in general,they are at an intermediate level.Due to a significant correlation between chunks competence and the level of students'academic ability,future English teaching is supposed to strengthen students'and teachers'lexical awareness.At the same time,making full use of high-frequency chunks and practicing and reviewing them regularly through progressive practice.At last,doing vocabulary learning strategies training to further enhance students'lexical chunks competence and to strengthen students'language ability.For chunks learning strategies,the subjects under study mainly use determination strategy,followed by metacognitive strategy,social strategy and cognitive strategy.And students seldom use memory strategy.Finally,based on the error analysis of chunks competence test,the frequency of chunks,learning strategies and interlingual or intralingual negative transfer are the main factors affecting the classroom lexical chunks learning of the 10~thh Grade students.Based on the investigation of lexical chunks competence of the 10~thh Grade students,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)the lexical chunks level of the subjects is at an intermediate level;(2)the main learning strategies used by students when learning lexical chunks are determination strategy;(3)the main factors that influence the learning effect of the 10~thh grade students are frequency,learning strategies,native interlingual or intralingual transfer.The main pedagogical implications are as follows:(1)developing students'lexical awareness;(2)making use of high frequency lexical chunks and providing more effective input;(3)designing a variety of progressive exercises to consolidate students'mastery of lexical chunks;(4)following the forgetting curve law,reviewing the lexical chunks regularly;(5)in addition to a large number of effective input and output,doing vocabulary learning strategy training can effectively promote vocabulary learning.
