| This practice report is based on the interpreting task for the Chinese painting classes of the Chinese Summer Camp for Foreign Students the author participated on July 11th and 12th,including the pre-task preparation,interpreting process and afterwards reflection.This report mainly talks about the challenges the author confronted in the interpreting task and coping methods,requirements for class interpreters and roles of class interpreters,which can provide valuable lessons and offer effective guidance for the interpreting practice in relative areas in the future.Based on the author’s summarization and reflection,obstacles in the preparation stage focused on figuring out match translation of professional terms and abstract expressions in the presentation slides.While the most challenging part in the interpreting process was to properly interpret the large amount of improvising remarks not included in the presentation slides.In terms of the difficulties in the pre-task preparation,the author mostly searched for more information online and actively communicated with the Chinese painting teacher to obtain relatively more accurate translation.And in dealing with the improvising remarks in the interpreting process,the author managed to deliver a better performance through interpreting the core meaning,and adding up further explanation,and enhancing communication with the teacher on the spot,etc.Through this practice,the author has been fully aware of the importance of increasing background knowledge,interpreting in a flexible manner and properly dealing with cultural differences in an interpreting task. |
