In recent years,the sound momentum of international trade stimulates more transnational corporations to expand their new business markets.To rapidly dominate the new market,the translation of product brochures takes a vital role in the business promotion.Based on the English-Chinese translation of Philips Lighting product brochures,this report is composed of four chapters.Firstly,it reviews the background and the whole translation process of the project.Then,Skopos theory is chosen as the guiding theory to help this writer complete the translation program.And it aims to discuss the translation problems via concrete examples and put forward reasonable approaches through analyzing the vocabularies and sentences of these product brochures.The detailed translation difficulties are clarified into two categories: One is how to translate product names and abbreviations of technical terms with proper methods;the other is how to deal with typical sentences in the original text,such as passive voice,imperative,complex sentences and parallelism to cater to the needs of target text.It is hoped that this report can offer some referential value for those who are engaged in the translation of product brochures.
