| With the increasing awareness of market competition,companies need to adopt more effective ways to publicize and promote their products.Therefore,as an effective tool to publicize enterprise and promote consumption,the product brochure is becoming more and more important.This report is based on the E-C translation of the optical three-dimensional coordinate measuring machine products brochure.The task described is an English material about a series of optical measuring equipment and their applications.This translation practice is conducted to enrich the materials of technical product brochures,promote the sales of the products,and improve readers’ understanding of optical three-dimensional coordinate measuring machines.Meanwhile,guided by Newmark’s Text Typology,the author makes a preliminary study on the translation methods of such kind of text,so as to provide a practical method for translators who translate this kind of material.In the report,the author firstly introduces the background and the objective and significance of this translation practice.Secondly,the features of the brochure are analyzed from the perspectives of lexicon and syntax.Thirdly,the author combs the whole process of the translation practice and gives a description of the preparations and efforts made during the process.Fourthly,the author summarizes the problems in the translation process from three aspect,including “understanding,expressing and revision”.In terms of understanding,it mainly describes how to understand the specialized knowledge,context and the language details.As for expressing,it involves how to convey information precisely,how to ensure coherence and how to avoid Euro-Chinese.With regard to revision,it mainly tells how to modify and adjust translation to achieve the intended purpose of the target text.Finally,the author makes a summary and reflection in terms of the translation practice.Through this translation practice,the author fully realizes that when translating such informative and vocative texts,translators not only need to stay faithful to the content of the source text,but also to adopt the strategy of communicative translation to make the translation as close as possible to the effect of the original text on the readers of the original text,so as to make it more readable,and then better realize the functions of text communication,knowledge transfer,as well as product and brand promotion.In addition,in this translation practice,the author has accumulated a large number of technical terms.It is hoped that the report will provide some theoretical and practical values for teachers,students and technicians of relevant majors to further study foreign product materials. |
