English writing ability is considered a significant criterion for assessing students’ learning ability and teachers’ teaching ability.Peer feedback is a vital part of the process approach,which is believed to contribute to raising students’ reader consciousness,improving their interest and willingness of writing.Thus peer feedback in English writing is widely applied in colleges and vocational schools.Its effectiveness and feasibility have been confirmed and recognized by numerous scholars through many empirical studies.Currently,the traditional teacher feedback approach still dominates most English writing classes in senior high schools,which consumes much time and energy of the teacher but causes little attention of students.It is evident that the teaching efficiency is far from satisfactory.This thesis attempts to employ peer feedback in senior high schools with a view to explore a new efficient English writing teaching model,thus bringing about a higher level to students’ writing ability.This study focuses on the following research questions:1.Whether peer feedback approach is helpful in improving students’ writing ability?If yes,in what way?2.Whether peer feedback approach can help students improve their English writing efficacy? If yes,in what way?3.What is senior high school students’ attitude towards peer feedback approach in English writing?Experiments,questionnaires as well as interviews are used as research instruments toget relevant data analysis.For quantitative analysis,SPSS17.0 is used to collect data from the questionnaire and for qualitative analysis,interview will offer the scientific data for the supplement of the research,the following findings are obtained:1.Peer feedback benefits students a lot,especially in enriching contents,and correcting spelling,grammatical and syntactic mistakes.2.Peer feedback can help students improve their English writing efficacy to some degree.3.The majority of senior high school students participating in the study hold a positive attitude towards peer feedback writing approach.Based on the above findings,the author puts forward some suggestions for senior English writing teaching:(1)updating and renewing teaching concepts and strategies so as to adopt appropriate ways for teaching;(2)applying peer feedback to daily writing teaching in senior school English writing;(3)motivating students to act initiatively in English writing.
