Cooperation runs through all aspects of our work, study and life and it is an important driving force for the development of our society. There are many studies focusing on the factors that affect cooperation, but none of these studies can accurately explain the reasons that why people choose to cooperate. This article focuses on the influence of power sense on cooperation and tries to explore the inherent mechanism. This can enrich and develop the theory of cooperation, and also plays an important role for individual and organization to deepen cooperation. There are three studies in this article in order to test the hypotheses. In study 1,we used questionnaires to explore the relationship between power and cooperation. We received 200 questionnaires, the results showed that individual’s power sense is positively correlated with the cooperative personality. In study 2,we used laboratory experiment to explore the influence of power sense on cooperation. We selected 60 participants and manipulate the participants’ power sense through recall task, and then recorded the cooperation indicator in public goods dilemma, the experimental results showed that power sense was positively affecting the cooperation. In study 3,based on the result of study 2,we wanted to explore the psychological mechanism of the influence of power sense on cooperation.Mainly examining the mediating effect of perceived control and the moderating effect of dominance motivation. We selected 90 participants to finish the task.Study 3 conducted that perceived control plays an intermediary role between power and cooperation, the power sense increases the perceived control of individuals and thus increasing individuals’ cooperative behaviors. And dominance motivation can effectively moderate the effect of power sense on perceived control. The interaction between power sense and dominance motivation is significant, when an individual had low dominance motivation, power sense will significantly enhance individuals’ perceived control, and increase the cooperative behavior of individuals indirectly. This article had made a clear conclusion of the relationship between the power sense and cooperation, and also explored the internal mechanism of how power sense influence cooperation.
