Interpreter’s Subjectivity—Practice Report Of Liaison Interpretation At The Conference Of 2017 Estonian Travel Mission To China

With the deepening process of globalization,countries are becoming increasingly interconnected with each other,which calls for the rapid development of interpreting industry.In the academia,domestic and foreign scholars mainly attach great importance to consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting research,while discussions on liaison interpreting are relatively scarce.Therefore,the author managed to probe into the interpreting strategies adopted in the liaison interpreting from the perspective of the interpreter’s subjectivity by analyzing the liaison interpreting practice of the author herself.This paper starts from illustrating definition and features of liaison interpreting,and then discusses the subjectivity of the interpreter in the interpretation.When she introduced her practice,the author is going to analyze the constraints on the interpreter’s subjectivity,that is,cultural differences,professional knowledge,and requirements of the employers,and then explore a way to give full play to the interpreter’s subjectivity.In the end,the author will adopt several interpreting strategies to improve the quality of liaison interpreting,such as literal interpretation,and free interpretation including addition and explanation,omission and correction.
