Reading plays a very important role in the process of English learning,which has attracted a lot of attention to the improvement of English reading effects of senior high school students from many scholars and teachers.As a new teaching mode,the guided learning plan is beneficial to develop the main role of students and cultivate their learning ability.Based on the theory of constructivism,this thesis explores the implementation effect in English reading teaching,whether the application of guided learning plan in English reading teaching is helpful for senior high school students to develop their English reading level and how it helps them improve their English reading effects.The author chooses 88 students of Grade One in Guangzhou No.1 High School as research participants.Before the experiment,the author investigates the present English reading conditions of these students through questionnaire survey.The results indicate that most students read English passively under the guidance of their teacher and they seldom use reading skills and strategies in the process of English reading,which give the reference for the design and implementation of learning plan.In addition,the author conducts English reading test in both classes.Although the results of test in these two classes show that there is no obvious difference,the majority of students are not so good at English reading that they read very slowly and poor results in the process of English reading comprehension.Considering the above problems,the author designs an experiment study in which these two classes are divided into experimental class and controlled class.In the process of English reading teaching,the author applies the guided learning plan in experimental class and the traditional teaching mode in controlled class.After completing the experiment,the author conducts English reading test again in both classes.The statistic figures of test show that there is a slight difference of test scores between these two classes.Besides,English reading effects of students in experimental class is higher than those in controlled class.And also,some students can read faster than before,and their reading comprehension is improved a lot.Through the application of guided learning plan in English reading teaching,many students can improve English reading effects,English reading scores,and English reading comprehension ability.This is mainly because guided learning plan consists of clear ability objectives of English reading comprehension,key points,difficult points and the related exercise.More importantly,there are some useful guidelines for the application of the reading strategies in exercise.In addition,the teacher can give students some helpful guidance based on guided learning plan,while students can also preview after class.All of them illustrate why students can improve their English reading effects with the help of guided learning plan.
