| Reading is an important part of English teaching and learning in senior high school.It is a new teaching mode of English reading to introduce mind map into guided learning plan,which can help students construct the knowledge network,cultivate English reading strategies,so as to improve students’ English autonomous reading ability.The combination of the two has high research value and application value for English reading teaching.This study aims to verify the feasibility of guided learning plan based on mind map in English reading teaching in senior high school.The research questions are as follows:(1)What is the effect of guided learning plan based on mind map on senior high school students’ English reading achievements? What are the differences in the effects of guided learning plan based on mind map on English reading achievements of students in different levels?(2)What is the effect of guided learning plan based on mind map on senior high school students’ English autonomous reading ability?A two-month teaching experiment was conducted in a key senior high school in Nanning,103 students from two parallel classes in Senior One were selected as the research participants.Experimental class(52 students)used guided learning plan based on mind map for English reading teaching,while the control class(51 students)used the traditional teaching mode of English reading.The teaching times of the two classes were 6 classes respectively,Book 1 and Book 2 from New Senior English for China published by People’s Education Publishing House were used as teaching materials.This study uses pre-test and post-test papers,questionnaires of students’ English autonomous reading ability in senior high school and interviews as research instruments.The results show that the English reading performance of experimental class in post-test is significantly higher than that of control class,and the improvement of the medium and low level students is the most obvious.At the end of the experiment,the English autonomous reading ability of experimental class is significantly improved.In conclusion,firstly,compared with the traditional mode of English reading teaching,guided learning plan based on mind map can effectively improve senior high school students’ English reading performance,and is more suitable for medium and low level students,which has better application value in ordinary senior high schools or ordinary classes;secondly,it can effectively cultivate senior high school students’ English autonomous reading ability from five aspects: reading motivation,reading objectives and reading plans,reading strategies,reading process and reading results.Thus,it is highly feasible to apply guided learning plan based on mind map to English reading teaching in senior high school. |
