The implementation of "The Belt and Road Initiative" calls for strengthening the training of language talents.English,as one of the country’s common foreign_languages,in addition to training students’ language skills,should also promote the development of students’ core competency.According to the"13th Five-Year Plan"of the National Education,basic education curriculum plans and standards for Basic Education must embody the requirements of students’ development of core competency.However,core competency is not a proper term for Basic Education.The Ministry of Education pointed out in the "Opinions on Deepening Reforms and Implementing the Fundamental Tasks of Moral Education" that core competency is the character and key competence that students should possess to meet the needs in lifelong development.Core competency is universally applicable to all students.Therefore,in the process of cultivating English professionals,universities must fully consider the requirements of core competency of English discipline,and proceed from the three aspects of training objectives,training process,and training evaluation,and explore the training of English professionals in line with national development strategies and requirements of the times.The paper takes the core competency of English major as the framework,investigates the core competency of talents in English major and the study of ten college English majors’ training models,trying to analyze the problems existing in the cultivation of talents in English majors at home and abroad.Taking the successful experience of college professional English education as an example,it proposes the training model for talents in English major.This article consists of five parts:The first part is the introduction,which discusses the reason and significance of the research,defines the core concept of the thesis and the theoretical basis of the research,elaborates the research status at home and abroad,and puts forward the research ideas,methods,research priorities,difficulties and innovations.The second part is to construct the core competency model for talents in English major.Based on the theoretical structure of the model,the author prepares a survey questionnaire of the core competencies for talents in English major.Through the questionnaires collected from 10 colleges in the country,the paper analyzes the development of core competency for talents in English major.The third part investigates the training models of talents in English major in ten colleges.From the training objectives,training process,and training evaluation,the paper summarizes the characteristics of current domestic college English major’s training model and explores the manifestation and deficiency of core competency for English major in talent training.The fourth part summarizes the advanced talent training experience by studying talent training model of college English major.The fifth part proposes the talent training model for college English majors based on disciplinary core competencies.
