As globalization is increasing interdependence in the international community,people living in contemporary society feel an increasing need for business management books brought by intensified market competition.While humor is increasingly valued by people because of its social function and humorous languages have become an embellishment in people’s lives and work.Humor is a common phenomenon of human culture,but it has different expressions in various languages and cultures.The interlingual transmission effect of humor directly affects the reader’s reading experience and the readability of the translation of business management books.This thesis takes the second edition of The Seven Hidden Reasons Employees Leave as an example to explore the positive role of humorous language in increasing the readability of the translation,and proposes strategies to capture humor and convey humor from the aspects of understanding and expression.I hope to have some reference to professional translation practice and language service industry.This thesis first introduces the readability of business management books,the definition of humor and the characteristics and functions of humorous language.This thesis recognizes the humorous languages in The Seven Hidden Reasons Employees Leave mainly involve cultural humor,workplace humor and communicative humor,and analyzes the difficulties for translating these humorous languages.This paper put up with approaches in finding relevant materials,understanding the original humorous expressions and drawing on similar style texts,and proposes humorous expression strategies from the aspects of rhetoric,tone,cultural differences and humor compensation.
