A Study On The Diachronic Variations Of The View Of Virtue And Happiness In Confucian School

This article firstly arranges the evolution of the conceptions about virtue and happiness in Chinese and Western Philosophy.Then it analyzes why the two conceptions can be coherent is because of the assurance from the transcendence as well as the presupposition in Ethics.The reason why in reality the two is not coherent is this question becomes far beyond people’s field of vision.Next step is to arrange the diachronic variations of the view of virtue and happiness in Confucian school,then summarize the traditional view as following:1.Presupposing the coherence because of the assurance from Heaven and Principle.2.Admitting the reality that in daily life there is not always coherent between virtue and happiness,then generalize them as fate,time,incident or luck.3.Adcocating the personal virtue and even appealing to everyone that do not pay too much attention to the results.4.Mentioning more things like the worthiness to be happy,accumulation of goodness as well as the combination with social practical activity.Afterwards,this article analyzes the concept"Gui Jue de Xiang Ji" in the book of Mou Zongsan and considers that this view takes the different methodology with Kant’s view,which is much more fitted with Chinese people’s spirits.Finally this article summarizes the view of virtue and happiness in Confucian school as "cultivate one’s moral character then wait for the future",and deems that people should still stick to the rational belief in the coherence of virtue and happiness.Meanwhile the government should suffer the system guarantee to establish the belief in order to make it a fundamental faith to support people’s moral spirit nowadays.
