Putian is known as "Literature State,Seaside Zoulu".It has a deep cultural accumulation in this land, especially in folk music. The author invests his research perspective in Mr.Huang Wendong,a representative figure in Putian folk music domain, and records his life and contribution to Putian folk music through oral history and field investigation. As the "cultural authority" of Puxian folk music domain,he has recorded and inherited many kinds of Puxian folk music, and constantly innovated and reformed on this basis. In Huang Wendong’s whole life,he had many social identities, from folk artists to middle school teachers to cultural centre cadres, the only thing that remained unchanged was his inheritance of local culture. This paper attempts to explore Huang Wendong’s identity and constructive significance in the inheritance of local culture by recording and combing his personal life and work, and discussing them in the context of local knowledge. As a grass-roots worker,he also experienced severe social turbulence and policy changes in his life.In the interaction between the individual and the society, the concept of life and music inheritance is constantly adjusted.
