There is a tendency of polarization in the academic performance of junior and high school students,the top students scored far higher than the poor students.There are many factors.Cognitive style and learning strategy are two important factors.Previous studies have shown that cognitive patterns influence people's choice of learning strategies,but there is no comparative study on these two factors.Compare the differences in learning strategies between the two types of students when choosing different types of cognitive styles is helpful to find out their characteristics,which is of great significance to the transformation of the top and the poor students.With reference to relevant theories at home and abroad,this paper defines the concepts of excellent students in English studies,poor students in English studies,cognitive styles,and learning strategies,Research object of a middle school junior high school student in Hebei Province which teaches by myself.This paper discusses(1)the characteristics and differences of cognitive styles of excellent English students and poor English students in junior high school;(2)the characteristics and differences in the use of learning strategies between excellent English students and poor English students in junior high school;(3)the characteristics and differences of learning strategies used by junior high school students with different types of cognitive styles;(4)comparison of the use of learning strategies between excellent English students and poor English students in junior high schoolThe data collected from 83 excellent students and 83 poor students were tested in the?mosaic graphics test?and?the language learning strategy questionnaire?.The statistical analysis found that:(1)the number of English high school students in the midfield independent cognitive style prevailed.The independent cognitive style of excellent students is more typical than poor students.(2)the excellent students are better at using various language learning strategies than poor students.The frequency by excellent students used is middle and higher,and the frequency by poor students used is very low.Outside Compensatory strategy;(3)there is no difference in the frequency of learning strategy for excellent and poor English students.In terms of specific learning strategies,(4)excellent students who use learning strategies show obvious differences in cognitive styles.The most frequently used learning strategy for field independent cognitive styles is metacognitive strategies.The learning strategy with field-dependent cognitive styles at the top of the list is social strategies.There is no obvious difference in cognitive style for poor studentIn summary,it is reasonable to think that students with field independent cognitive style have a higher chance of becoming excellent students;The frequency of learning strategies has become an important factor that affects learning results;there is difference in using different learning strategies for different types of cognitive styles,field independent cognitive styles most often use metacognitive strategies,and field dependent cognitive styles most often use compensatory strategies.Excellent students can choose a matching learning strategy based on the advantages of cognitive style,and combine the learning strategy and cognitive style organically to play a superposition effect.However,poor students with difficulty are completely blind in strategy selection.Learning strategies and cognitive styles are separated.When learning,they can~'t effectively use learning strategies or play the advantages of cognitive styles.This is the second factor that leads to poor language learning performance.Therefore,in junior high school English teaching,first of all,we must use targeted training learning strategies;Combine knowledge transfer and strategy learning.Conditionally,we can cultivate the independent cognitive style of junior high school students from many aspects.
