The book of odes is the earliest sylloge of poetry in China.lt collected 311 poems from the beginning of the Western Zhou Dynasty to the middle of the Spring and Autumn period.The ancient classics recorded that the emperor Song Gaozong Zhao Gou(宋高宗赵构)and Song Xiaozong ZhaoShen(宋孝宗赵昚)write the calligraphy part of the illustration of Tee Book of Odes,and order Ma Hezhi to finish the illustration part in the left of the works to express the Confucian classics ofThe Book of Odes.The study on the unique illustration of the series of illustration of The Book of Odes by Song Gaozong and Ma Hezhi,is concentrated in the illustration of Chi bi Hou Fu(后赤壁赋图)and Odes of Tang(唐风图),rare for the illustration of the Odes of Bin.In this paper,the study is mainly about the illustration of the Odes of Bin in the name of Ma Hezhi.Odes of Bin(豳风图)includes seven ballads with the color of Bin that located in ShanXi Province.However,Ma Hezhi didn’t finish the task before he died.There has no definitive proof that the illustration of the book of odes painted by Ma Hezhi include the illustration of the Odes of Bin,However,there are four versions of the illustration of Odes of Bin,which is attributed to Ma Hezhi in his name in the world today,in these four,we only can see two of them now.This leads to a more complicated situation to acknowledge the truth of the illustration of Odes of Bin in the name of Ma Hezhi.Firstly,In this paper,this paper further adds to the evidence on the basis of predecessors study,and solves the identity of the contradiction of Ma Hezhi.Secondly,by contrasting the details of two visible versions of the illustration of Odes of Bin in the name of Ma Hezhi now,in Beijing Palace Museum and the Metropolitan Museum,then roughly reasoning that the Beijing version painted before 1160,the Metropolitan version painted between 1161 and 1168.1n addition,this paper finds that the two versions show a pattern of fixed patterns and cooperative division of labor,this view can be confirmed with the predecessors who think that the series of illustration of books is not only painted by Ma Hezhi,also the conclusion can be confirmed with the above argument about identity of Ma Hezhi.Finally,this paper highlight thehistorical position of the illustration of Odes of Bin in the name of Ma Hezhi from two dimensions of time and space,through researching the influence on the same painting theme in Yuan Dynasty,Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty,and the influence on the same painting theme in neighboring countries.
