The Humanity Dimension Of Yan Geling's Novels From The Perspective Of Intercultural Communication

In recent years,Yan Geling has gradually been known by Chinese people for the multiple adaptation of her works into films and TV plays.Her novels are elegant in writing,unique in perspective,and wide-ranging in theme.Her new immigrant novels reveal the marginal situation and psychological state of several generations of Chinese overseas,while Chinese novels focus on the living conditions of the Chinese people in different historical periods.From the overview of Yan Geling's works,we can see her special attention and delicate portrayal of human nature,which is inseparable from her cross-cultural life experience.Therefore,this thesis attempts to deeply analyze the humanity dimension in Yan Geling's novels from different cultural contexts in the East and West.The first chapter analyzes the humanity in Yan Geling's novels in the view of Western culture,which mainly includes the salvation psychology of Christianity and the barbaric plunder in the primitive accumulation of capital.In her novels,Westerners have aspects of rational civilization such as poverty alleviation and repentance,which stem from the long-term influence of Christian culture.However,their brutal behavior of discrimination and oppression against China at an early stage shows the influence of colonialism and racism on the dark side of humanity.The second chapter discusses the humanity in the mainstream culture of the Chinese special period in Yan Geling's novels.The political ideal helps to establish the strong will and firm belief of the Chinese people,especially for Chinese soldiers.The "extreme left" environment promotes the alienation of humanity.The third chapter analyzes the perspective of humanity in Chinese folk culture of Yan Geling's novels,which reflects in three aspects: traditional benevolent thought fosters Chinese people's concept of attaching importance to family ties and the "landmother" characteristics of oriental women;the simple ethic of working people makes Chinese people's primitive and tough survival consciousness and wisdom of daily life;the characteristics of folk culture,such as feudal autocracy,ignorance,aversion to poverty and love of wealth,and preference for boys over girls,have formed negative side of humanity.
