| Jane Austen’s famous work Pride and Prejudice is widely circulated in Britain.,but was only translated into Chinese around 80 years ago.After its circulation in China,The study of Pride and Prejudice has received extensive attention.Subjects about this work vary,and the author of this thesis chooses Irony Translation as its object of study since ironic translation is a very important writing method in the work of Pride and Prejudice,whether the charm of the original text can be tasted by Chinese readers,to express irony accurately is very important.Compared with the previous translation analysis,this thesis is innovative in that it uses Gestalt Psychological Aesthetics(hereinafter referred to as GPA)as a research tool to study the processing methods of ironic translation in Pride and Prejudice,in an attempt to highlight the unique charm of the original work.GPA takes into account both the study of writing methods and the study of readers’ psychology.The focus of this paper is to explore the linguistic differences between the two ages and the new entry point of the ironic translation through the comparison and description of the original texts with different characteristics,combined with the six major principles of GPA,thus enlightening later research for irony translation in Pride and Prejudice.In the first part of this article,background,importance,research methods and structure are sorted out,and the previous research is classified and characterized to find out the innovation and research value of continuing research.The second part introduces the theoretical tool of this thesis—GPA and its applicability for this research.The third part mainly classifies the types of ironic writing in Pride and Prejudice,and then makes analysis and induction by combining the translation examples and six principles of GPA.In the last part,the author tentatively concludes the thesis’ major findings,limitation and also suggestion for further study. |
