| The influence of reading carrier on the English reading comprehension of college students is studied by experiment method in this research.The questionnaire and interview survey were used to explore the subjective view and attitude of the subjects in English reading of three kinds of carriers,such as paper,computer and mobile phone.In the experiment one,a single factor was designed to compare the results of English reading comprehension and the difference of time use when three kinds of carriers appeared.Experiment two was two factors mixed experiment design,compared the result of reading comprehension with computer related major subjects and non-computer related majors to face the traditional paper and computer carrier.In experiment three,three levels of single factor were used to explore the influence of the use of reading strategies on reading comprehension.In experiment four,two factors mixed experiment design was used to study the difference of the cognitive styles of field dependence and field independence on the reading comprehension of different carriers.All four experiments were based on group testing and paper-pencil tests.The result show that the scores and time use of English reading comprehension were different when they presented in three carriers.The students spent the longest time but get the best results when they use the paper carriers.The mobile phone when the fastest,computer carrier second,but the performance of the computer reading is better than the mobile phone reading.The difference between computer-related majors and non-computer-related majors was’t significant when they face paper English reading comprehension but in computer.This maybe the carrier familiarity results in.The use of strategy affects the effect of the subjects’reading,and in the case of inability to make marks and notes,college students’reading comprehension decreases and reading comprehension exceeds the"Mark and note" strategy.The difference between paper reading and computer reading is decreasing.The main effect of cognitive style is not significant,the interaction between cognitive style and carrier is not significant,that is,cognitive style does not affect the effect of English reading comprehension,nor does it have any effect on the reading comprehension result of different reading vectors. |
