Objective: This study aims at investigating the relationship between parenting rearing style and middle school students’ gratitude,and the mediation effect of family cohesion.Method: A total of 514 middle school students were assessed with Egma Minnen av Bardndosna Uppforstran(Chinese Revised Version),Adolescent Gratitude Scale and Family Cohesion Scale.Result: Correlation analysis showed that father rearing style,family cohesion and gratitude of middle school students were significantly correlated;mother rearing style,family cohesion and gratitude of middle school students were significantly correlated.The results of structural equation model showed father’s emotional warmth and understanding,refusal and denial have a direct effect on the gratitude of middle school students;and family cohesion plays a mediating role in the relationship between father’s emotional warmth and understanding,punishment and severity,refusal and denial and gratitude of middle school students;mother’s emotional warmth and understanding,refusal and denial,and preference for the subjects have a direct effect on the gratitude of middle school students,but family cohesion’s mediation effect was not significance.Conclusion: Father rearing style not only directly predict the gratitude of middle school students,and also indirectly predict the gratitude of middle school students through the mediation of family cohesion.Mother’s parenting style can directly predict the gratitude of middle school students.
