A Practice Report On Escort Interpreting Of Visiting Zhengding Rongguo Mansion

Nowadays,with the increasing of international economic and trade activities,numerous enterprises put more emphasis on the introduction of enterprise culture and Chinese culture to foreign clients.Responding to such demands,I have finished accompanying foreign clients on a trip to Zhengding Rongguo Mansion,an escort interpreting task entrusted by Baoding Rixin Plastic Manufacturing Co.,Ltd.My performance during the whole course could relatively satisfy the foreign friends and the leading department manager.I feel that this interpreting task is a very challenging and rewarding practice worth the introspecting,so it is chosen as the topic for this interpreting practice report.This practice report consists of five chapters.After completing the description of interpreting task,there is a specific introduction and analysis of the pre-interpreting preparation,which is made in the order of the concept of preparations for interpreting,the features of escort interpreting,the role of the interpretive theory played in it,and further preparations based on this for relevant cultural terms,cross-cultural communication etiquette and psychology in case of any emergency.In the interpreting process,introduction and analysis are made mainly of how to apply the triangular model advanced by the interpretive theory to the process of interpreting.Hence are mentioned the familiarity with English pronunciations and accent,the adoption of mental and written recording skills and the ensuring of continuity of interpreting by re-expression.In post-interpreting stage,an introduction is made of the collection of feedback from the clients and self-evaluation.Chapter four is a case analysis,which is the center of this report.It aims to show how to adopt the appropriate interpreting strategies based on the interpretive theory.This is done by analyzing typical cases from the perspectives of semantic and syntactic strategies and emergency strategies.Finally,in chapter five,the conclusion as a practice summary is offered that although a beginner like me has too many shortcomings for a competent interpreter,yet he will be able to improve gradually his interpreting only if he persists in enhancing his accomplishments by more and more practice guided by theory and by applying appropriate interpreting strategies.
